Orange Glo

Okay so the bare wood is clean but dried out and I needed to look through what I had. 

I could only think of finishing the half a bottle of Orange Glo and the Mineral Oil I had and purchased paint brushes at Dollar Tree.

I poured the Orange Glo into a cup and thought I had enough! I did the back and underneath first before I replaced the S hooks (from 2010) and rehung the swing to do the front.

Three rungs shy of finishing I panicked. Do they still make Orange Glo?

I found it on Instacart at Home Depot and Big Lots. I decided to order it from Big Lots.

When I read the back I decided to do a search and at Orange Glo dot com they explain they are a Canadian based company and their formula is Golden Oil in the US and UK. Only sold through QVC which is out of stock right now. 

I will be trying what I purchased and ignore the instructions.

Update: I’m back to where I began with only a half a bottle left! 

After I did the three rungs I went over the front again. 

I found cute cushions but the swing is curved. I’ll have to do a sit test later.

Anyway, Chad didn’t get the threshold cleaned but the door wall still looks fabulous!

I had picked up the door mat to take to the backyard and asked Scott to add it in after all.

The color was definitely brought back from 14 years of wear

I would rather go shabby chic on this just to get the grime off. This has always been bare wood stain without it being sealed. Since I purchased the house 17 years ago!

As far as July 4th went the Jack and Coke were gone on the 3rd and I had two cars drive by. On the 4th only one car drove by but the Sparklers over two days were worth it. 

Taquitos instead of hot dogs. The Safety Shot drink I got for free tasted okay but was like aspirin in a can. Didn’t notice much difference.

It was an odd 17 days offline. 

I walked to Family Dollar/Dollar Tree or Thorntons every day. 

My latest find (project) consisted of over the door racks and silicone ice trays.

I have lots of Norwex drying and didn’t want hooks. When I put them on they kind of looked like door pulls and not so bad!

I had an old dish mat that always leaked (just terry cloth) but I had the idea to put it in the drawer and thought it looked like a jewelry box! I’ll have to see if I can find them again. I have five more drawers.

Meanwhile my old dish rack needed to go and since I eventually will be purchasing Norwex Dish Mats I picked up this one in the Dollar Tree section. It’s microfiber so not so leaky. It looks more like a placemat though.

Mainly I added it because I miss fruit and vegetables so first I ordered from Aldi (twice) and then I got braver and ordered from Lowes yesterday.

I needed a ladder. All I have is this tiny plastic step stool that I’ve been using and it gives me vertigo after reaching/looking up. It was time to move to a real ladder.

And I really did look at ladders but this looked like a good in between with a 9 foot reach. It is so awesome!

I ordered fluorescent tube lights also to FINALLY put light in my kitchen. It’s been 4 years I think minimum.

I cleaned the inside with the EnviroCloth after removing the old lights (so-so job but I was thorough) and the outside cover looks brand new.

I’ve changed the bulbs since I had it put up in 2014 so I wasn’t scared of that. I got down to turn on the lights and

Nothing. I checked the breaker and it hadn’t tripped.

I finally looked up “why wouldn’t a fluorescent light work” and they mentioned a “ballast.” It’s under the cover in the middle and lasts from 10-15 years.

More money for an electrician. Too many ballasts to choose from and I just don’t know. Next month. I’m going back outside.

June Norwex purchase

I wasn’t going to purchase a replacement this year for my old outdoor broom but since it was in the mini catalog (seasonal) I decided to do marketing research after all.

First impression: It wins over my old broom. This is a picture of both bristles. Black dense bristles surrounded by the blue bristles which is what my old broom has.

The powder foaming soaps worked out great last month. The packet and hot water is all you have to do! Each one lasted about a week (I wash my hands a lot) In my previous company that’s about all I purchased per month!

Update:

The first thing I tackled was the side with rock. It has slowly ended up in the driveway (and my neighbors walkway… yeah he stole from my Pebble Beach settlement from the Fishel crew) and once again closed the door to my crawl space. I don’t know why they’re opening it other than putting drugs in there. IT’S ON MY PROPERTY YOU STOOPID DRUGGIES! Stay off my land!

Anyway the tree crew cleaned up the area behind the house from tree/tall foliage but there was still leaves and dirt on the driveway so after the rock was pushed back in I attempted to sweep up the glued to the asphalt mud and leaves. 

Ugh! It was easier to pull the broom than push (it kept catching) and I was able to separate it, put the leaves in the bin and I swept the dirt to the side area by the trash cans. It will have to be rinsed or done again.

I’m doing the minimum until the survey is done.
